Staff Profile: Mark Soper

20th June, 2017

In our series of staff profiles, we introduce you to the friendly faces that help make the Elite so special. This month we speak to Mark Soper...

Name: Mark Soper

Nickname: Mark

Job title, Shop: Fryer Manager, Tritton Road, Lincoln

Period of time worked for company: 14 years

Q: Why did you choose to work for The Elite Fish & Chip Company?

I’ve always been into catering, it’s something that I love!

Q: What is your favourite part of the job?

It sounds like a cliché but it’s the customers and the staff! We get a lot of young staff members in who move on when they go to university and pursue their careers but it’s so nice that they all keep in touch. It reflects the working relationship we have here at the Elite.

Q: What is your favourite item on the Elite menu?

I love anything on the ‘specials menu’

Q: If you could have any superpower what would it be?

It would be to slow down time as I might get my jobs done that way!

Q: What did you want to be as a child?

I wanted to be a vet. I did study animal welfare but I realized it wasn’t for me, and went into catering which is definitely more up my street.

Q: What’s your biggest fear?

It would be needles, which might seem strange because I have tattoos but I don’t like them.

Q: If you could switch jobs with anyone for a day, what would you choose to do?

I enjoy fishing because it’s so peaceful and it’s the one place where no one can nag me! So I would switch jobs with the fishermen if I had to!

Q: What is your favourite way to relax outside of work?

I’m not one for relaxing, I like to keep busy all the time but I like to build things outside of work.

Q: What is at the top of your bucket list?

To buy a bucket!

Q: If you could change anything about the business what would it be?

It would be to close when it’s hot!

Q: How do you fit everything in, in one day?

Time management and a good team makes it possible to get everything done!

Q: And finally, what question would you like to ask for our next staff profile?

Do you think you’re as good as Mark (Me)?
