We’re First in the County to Receive Healthier Options Award!

23rd January, 2019

The good news just keeps on coming for us this year! We started 2019 off with our own prestigious chapter in The Book of Amazing People - and now our Sleaford outlet has just become one of only two restaurants in Lincolnshire to be presented with the Healthier Options Award.

The award is part of a wider scheme which was launched earlier this week by Lincolnshire County Council, Public Health England and district councils. It’s been created to help small and medium-sized food outlets and businesses across Lincolnshire make healthier changes to their food menu and preparation.

We’re thrilled to announce that our Sleaford restaurant and takeaway has become one of the first food establishments in the county to be recognised for helping customers to make healthier choices.

We’ve always been keen to try new and alternative things and we’re constantly adapting our menu to reflect seasonal trends and produce. It’s fantastic that our efforts in striving to be more than a traditional fish and chip establishment have been recognised.

We’re aware that eating habits are changing all the time and we know that January is often when most people tend to make lifestyle changes by eating more healthily. We want to be able to cater for everyone and that’s why we offer fish without batter, lite-bite fish and chips, smaller options, salads and jacket potatoes.

Now that we’ve become recognised as a healthy food outlet in Lincolnshire, those that want to eat healthier options when dining out can do so when they visit us.

While we’re delighted to have been named as one of the first in the county to receive the Healthier Options Award, we want our customers to know that we won’t be straying away from our popular fish and chips anytime soon. Rather than limiting our menu, we have simply given all our customers more choice!

Earlier this week our co-director Rachel headed to North Kesteven District Council to receive the award which was presented to her by Councillor Peter Burley, Executive Board Member for North Kesteven District Council. It’s now taken pride of place at our Sleaford restaurant – keep an eye out for it when you pop in!

As most of you will know, in honour of our 30th anniversary we’re still on a mission to raise £30,000 as part of our year-long fundraising campaign for our three charities of the year. All funds raised will be split equally between The RAF Association, the RNLI and Sleaford Dementia Support Group. We’ll be raising money for these amazing causes until March 2019, so please pop any spare change into our fundraising buckets when you pop in to see us!
