Brave Dave Chips In to Our Charity Fundraiser!

1st May, 2018

You could say it’s a case of wax on, wax off at our Sleaford restaurant, as one of our very loyal customers has agreed to grit his teeth in order to raise some money for our chosen three charities

Dave Hyde, whose wife Emma is Duty Manager at our Sleaford restaurant has bravely volunteered to have a chest wax in aid of the three charities that we’re raising £30,000 for this year, including the RAF Wings Appeal, the RNLI and Sleaford Dementia Support.

Dave, who has worked in the RAF and is currently away working for BAE Systems in Saudi Arabia, has agreed to the body hair removal treatment which will be carried out by Kelly McConnell of Look Luscious Hair and Beauty when he returns home to Sleaford in July.

We managed to catch up with Dave just before he flew back out for work, and it would seem like he can’t wait: “As a former member of the RAF, I was thrilled to hear that the Elite would be supporting the RAF Wings Appeal as one of its charities of 2018. It’s a charity close to my heart and I wanted to do something that would give people a reason to donate – it’s not every day as a man that you get your chest waxed. I’ve had it done once before, but I had to ask them to give me a break halfway through as it was so painful!

“As long as we raise some funds for charity, I’m happy. Hopefully my fellow forces colleagues will dig as deep as the Elite customers always do!”

We might be a family-run business but that never stops our dedicated team from getting stuck in when it comes to supporting charities. It goes without saying that this also applies to our customers whose kind donations have meant that we’ve been able to raise £10,000 in the past for the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal in just ten months.

As you may know, 2018 is a huge year for us as we’re celebrating 30 wonderful years since opening our first shop in Ruskington near Sleaford. Part of the celebrations include raising £30,000 which is to be split equally between three charities.

We’ve never committed to raising such a large amount before, and this year we’ve really got to triple our efforts. It’s great to see that our staff and their families are already getting involved and keeping the family-orientated focus and spirit at the Elite going!

If you’d like to sponsor Dave to go through this slightly painful experience, you have until 28th July, which is when he will be having his chest waxed in front on the entire restaurant in Sleaford.
